Why this name
Snapcard was a venture-backed payments startup — a bitcoin wallet, one-click checkout and a MassPay API, backed by Tim Draper and Blockchain Capital before winding down in 2017. The name already means payments; today it's an open, unencumbered brand.
Google's registry, and the first TLD in the world with HTTPS enforced for every site. The same extension that carries cash.app and prism.app — snapcard.app is the product URL of the brand, not a landing page.
Two syllables. Eight letters. No hyphens, no numbers, nothing to misspell on a business card, in a pitch deck, or read aloud on a sales call. It reads like a brand but it means something: a card that snaps.
The market
Category-defining names on .app have climbed to the top of the new-gTLD market — prism.app at $120,000 and viral.app at $100,000 — while paycard.com, a card-industry compound on .com, closed at $100,000 in 2024. snapcard.app is a fintech-grade compound on that same extension: an eight-letter product name no competitor can register, priced where the payments category trades.
